WHAT IS THE POINT? The approximately 400 mothers, boys and girls hauled away from Warren Jeff’s Texas compound and their polygamous lifestyles is a good reminder of what slave ship cargoes included as after-math numbers and nouns of polygamy. A century before government “Aid to Families with Dependent Children” as an alternative lifestyle for poor youthful mothers, … education, religious and social activism by women like Mary Church Terrell helped reduce polygamous births from nearly 100 percent during days of plantation breeding to less than 25 percent before opportunists like Daniel Moynihan resurrected matriarchal polygamy, and current high-rise prison math. |
